A database is a collection of related, structured, or organized data accessed by a database management system (DBMS). A database management system consists of an integrated set of computer software that allows users to use one or more databases and access information in the databases. Although this is complete access, users can access part of the information if there is a restriction.
DBMS provides various functions for entering, storing, and retrieving large amounts of information and offers several ways to manage how information is organized.
Because there are so many similarities between a database and a database management system, the term database is sometimes used to refer to both.
